Moda y su lado filantrópico: BORN FREE Fashion and its philanthropic side

Un proyecto ambicioso, pero no imposible, que pretende erradicar la infección de VIH por transmisión materna para el 31 de diciembre de 2015. Born Free, Vogue, Shopbob, la artista keniana Wangechi Mutu y 22 de las diseñadoras más influyentes de la actualidad -y que también son madres- se alían para poner la campaña en marcha.
An ambitious but not impossible project, to end mother-to-child transmission of HIV by december 31, 2015. Born Free, Vogue, Shopbob, kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu and 22 of the most influential female designers -that are also mothers- have joined the movement.

En el año 2012, 260.000 niños fueron infectados con el virus del VIH por transmisión materna. Sin tratamiento, la mitad de ellos fallecerá antes de su segundo cumpleaños. Pero no tiene que ser así. Existe una píldora (mezcla de medicamentos antirretrovirales) que las mujeres contagiadas pueden tomar una vez al día durante su embarazo y que prácticamente asegura que sus hijos nazcan libres del virus.
In 2012. 260.000 children were infected with HIV passed on by their mothers at birth. Without treatment, half of them will die before their second birthday. But it doesn´t have to be this way. There is a pill (a combination of anti-retroviral medicines) that infected women can take once a day during pregnancy and that practically ensures their children will be born free of the virus.

La iniciativa consiste en crear una colección cápsula con piezas únicas a partir de los estampados de Wangechi Mutu, la cual está disponible exclusivamente en la tienda online de Shopbob. The initiative consists in the creation of a capsule collection with unique pieces from prints by Wangechi Mutu, that is available for purchase on Shopbob´s website. One hundred percent of proceeds generated from the sale of the limited-edition collection of accessories, women’s and children’s apparel will be donated to Born Free.
